Guidelines to a Rewarding Life and Relations at Work and at Home
1. The first step to a more satisfying and rewarding life is to tell yourself the truth, what you really think or feel, what you really need and want, what is really important to you. Only then will you begin to know what you need to communicate, who you need to communicate it to and how.
2. People, both at home and at work, will take you at your own valuation. If you take yourself for granted so will everybody else. If you don't pay attention to what really matters to you, why should anybody else?
3. Do you have clear personal and professional boundaries? And, if you do, do you enforce them? If you have no boundaries people will cross the line without realizing they have done so and, if you don't enforce them, you will feel taken for granted and resentful which will damage your relationships and affect work performance.
4. Take control over your life first by letting go of blame. Then start noticing what you think, feel, say or do that either works for you or doesn't. Record your observations in a journal.
5. The choices and decisions you take on a moment by moment basis will determine the quality of your relationships at work and at home both now and for the foreseeable future.
6. When you make promises, be sure to keep them. This includes promises you make to yourself as well as to others.
